Thailand HotelsThailand has hotels to fit every budget, from guesthouses to five star resorts. Most hotel rooms in Thailand are not large enough for families. However, there are a growing number of serviced apartments and resorts with accomodations for your family. There are literally hundreds of in Thailand. Listed below are some of our favorites places to stay when we travel with our family. More details are given on each city page. Home ExchangeSince the movie "The Holiday", the number of homes exchanged has grown by leaps and bounds. Many families have decided to cut their vacation budget through a home exchange program. A home exchange happens when two families agree to trade homes during their vacation. Perhaps home exchange is a valid option for you and your family. There are many homes in Thailand with owners looking for a home swap. Bangkok Hotels
One of our favorite places to stay in Bangkok is the Somerset Suwan Park View Hotel (on right). It is not the cheapest place to stay, but the rooms are big and the location is very centralized with a Bangkok skytrain station nearby. Another excellent choice for your family is the Century Park in the Pratunam area. The rooms are smaller, but the price is reasonable. The Century Park provides an excellent breakfast buffet for a mid-priced hotel. The are many great Bangkok Hotels, which one looks suitable for your family? The Centerpoint serviced apartments have several locations in Bangkok and provide lots of space for your kids. There is plenty of room for an extra bed or baby crib. Chiang Mai HotelsChiang Mai does not have as many hotels as Bangkok, but there are several new 5 star accomodations which have just been built and more are currently under construction. It is hard to narrow all of the Chiang Mai hotels down to a few recommendations, but here are our three of our favorite places to stay in Chiang Mai. We like the Lotus Hotel Pang Suan Kaew. It has a great location right next to a major mall, with bowling, movies and food courts with a variety of food choices. The Amari Rincome is a very nice hotel, for a reasonable price. It is not far from the Chiang Mai zoo and has excellent shopping and restaurants within walking distance. The Holiday Inn is right along the river and very close to the night bazaar area. The guest rooms are quite large which make it ideal for families with small children who do not want to pay for a suite or extra rooms for the kids. Hua Hin HotelsHua Hin is a family beach vacation spot only three hours drive south of Bangkok. As with other parts of Thailand, the accomodations come in all shapes, sizes and budgets. We found a nice little inexpensive place to stay just off the beach. There are also five star accomodations right on the beach in the center of town. Hua Hin is growing rapidly, with new resorts popping up and condominiums being built. Phuket HotelsPhuket is known world wide as a superb beach vacation spot. Thailand's largest island has some of the best beaches in the world for swimming and snorkeling. Due to its popularity as a beach resort, Phuket has an wide range of accomodations. There are five star family resorts around Bang Tao and guesthouses in Phuket town. Krabi HotelsKrabi is growing rapidly. It is turning into a premier beach resort town in Thailand. It is best known for rock climbing, but has many other attractions as well. In the best the only accomodations available were bungalows and low end hotels. It now has several five star resorts for families interested in a luxury family holiday. |
